NEW YORK (AP) ? Apple is inviting reporters to an event next Wednesday in San Francisco. An image on the invite showing part of an iPad screen suggests it's to announce a new model.
The company has been widely expected to reveal the third version of the iPad soon, close to the anniversary of the launch of the iPad 2.
The invitation is for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, where Apple holds larger launch events.
Apple didn't provide any details on the new device. Various unconfirmed reports speak of a sharper screen and faster cellular broadband options.
It's not known when such a new device would be available for sale. Last year, sales of the iPad 2 began in the U.S. nine days after the announcement.

Tyrannosaurus rex had the most powerful bite of any terrestrial animal ? modern or prehistoric.
The force of T. rex's bite was comparable to having an elephant sit on the victim with each crunch, according to a paper in the latest issue of Biology Letters. The carnivorous dinosaur?s biting force was between 35,000 to 57,000 newtons at a single tooth.
NEWS: T. rex teens packed on the pounds
In comparison, human biting force is usually documented as being less than 1,000 newtons, suggesting that T. rex could have bitten through thick bone and probably whatever else it wanted to attack.
?I have no idea what the bite would do to an animal beyond hurt a lot,? co-author Karl Bates told Discovery News. ?The force is obviously much higher than alligators and lions (some of the most forceful living animals), and you wouldn?t want to be bitten by either of those.?
Bates, a researcher in the University of Liverpool?s Department of Musculoskeletal Biology, and colleague Peter Falkingham of the University of Manchester artificially scaled up the skulls of a human, an alligator, a juvenile T. rex and an Allosaurus to the size of an adult T. rex. In each case, the bite forces increases as expected, but they did not increase to the level of the adult T. rex, suggesting that this formidable predator had the most powerful bite of any land animal.
Perhaps the only contender would be Gigantosaurus, another huge carnivorous dinosaur, but its bite force hasn't been measured yet.
Alligators hold the record for highest bite force of a living terrestrial animal, but Falkingham said he?s not sure how they would compare to great white sharks. Larger crocodilians, such as Nile crocs, have not been measured, but they would still not exceed the biting force of T. rex.
Previous studies estimated that T. rex bit at a force between 8,000 and 13,400 newtons, but this latest study tested a range of muscle powers, as it is not precisely known what the muscles of dinosaurs were like, since this tissue has not survived. The researchers believe their new numbers better match the size and body structure of T. rex a dinosaur thought to weigh more than 13,228 pounds.
VIDEO: Fossil could shed light on dinosaur evolution
?We speculate in our paper that the high bite force of adult T. rex may be indicative of it being a ?large prey specialist,?? Falkingham told Discovery News. He and Bates explained that the carnivore preyed upon various plant-eating dinosaurs, as evidenced by T. rex tooth marks found on bones for some of these large beasts.
More science news from msnbc.com
Science editor Alan Boyle's blog: Outside experts say the video exploration of a nearly intact 1st-century tomb in Jerusalem is a technological tour de force but an archaeological faux pas.
The scientists further determined that juvenile T. rex had a relatively weaker bite than the adult T. rex, even when size differences and uncertainties about muscle size were taken into account. This indicates the species underwent a change of feeding behavior as it grew.
?It certainly makes sense from a ?survival of the fittest? point of view for members of the same species to avoid competition with themselves,? Bates said.
John Hutchinson, a professor of evolutionary biomechanics at the University of London?s Royal Veterinary College, told Discovery News ?there?s no question that T. rex had a remarkably strong bite ? that?s old news ? but this study suggests it had an even stronger bite than previously thought.?
NEWS: T. rex was a cannibal
Hutchinson said the study utilized ?a very sophisticated computer analysis.? He also agrees that the ecology of Tyrannosaurus changed dramatically during the dinosaur?s growth, which involved going from just 13 pounds to over 13,000 in less than 20 years. He said, ?Once again, we see the power of the fossil record, and computer tools, in revealing amazing animals that are so unlike creatures today.?
Stephen Brusatte, a Columbia University paleontologist who is also a researcher at the American Museum of Natural History, agrees with the new study?s conclusions as well.
?The finding that T. rex had a remarkably strong bite force, on the order of magnitude of tens of thousands of newtons, really drives home how powerful this iconic dinosaur would have been,? he commented.
Brusatte thinks the most important part of the study is the analysis on differences between the juvenile and adult T. rex.
?Juveniles were probably better suited for feeding on smaller prey," he said, "whereas adults were true killing machines adapted to use bone-crunching bites to feed on some of the largest dinosaurian prey species.?

PARIS (AP) ? France's Constitutional Council ruled Tuesday that a French law concerning the mass killings of Armenians a century ago violates the country's constitution.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who had personally backed the law, immediately said he would ask the government to prepare a new bill taking into account the council's ruling.
The law passed by France's parliament in December makes it a crime to deny that the killings of some 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 constituted genocide. The council ruled the law would violate freedom of expression and speech, which are guaranteed by the French constitution.
Turkey, which says there was no systematic campaign against Armenians, has strongly opposed the French law.
The head of a French Armenian organization, meanwhile, sharply criticized the ruling, saying it was the result of Turkish lobbying.
Relations between France and Turkey have suffered since the law's passage, with Turkey suspending its military and economic cooperation with France after the lower house approval of the measure in December. The French Senate gave the law the green light in late January.
"We have been totally outraged by the Constitutional Council's decision at its very core, which is based on politics rather than on legal grounds," said Franck Mourad Papazian, president of the Council of Coordination of Armenian Organizations in France.
The measure had also sowed divisions in France, with some lawmakers expressing some of the same concerns as Ankara, notably that not allowing people to deny that the mass killings of Armenians nearly a century ago was genocide impinges on freedom of expression.
Turkey's foreign minister welcomed the decision, saying it was "pleasing that a grave mistake has been corrected by France's highest legal body."
In a written statement, Ahmet Davutoglu said he hopes France adopts "a constructive approach in regard to the handling of the conflict between Turkey and Armenia in a just and scientific manner and contributes to its solution rather than deepening it."
"Such an approach would contribute to improvement of Turkish-French relations in every field," Davutoglu said.
France's relations with Turkey were already strained, in large part because Sarkozy opposes Turkey's entry into the European Union.
Sarkozy's office said in a statement he recognized the "immense disappointment and profound sadness" of the law's supporters. Sarkozy said he will meet soon with representatives of France's Armenian community, many of whom had welcomed the law's passage with a swell of relief.
France formally recognized the 1915 killings as genocide in 2001, but provided no penalty for anyone refuting that. The law struck down Tuesday had set a punishment of up to one year in prison and a fine of euro45,000 ($59,000) for those who deny or "outrageously minimize" the killings, putting such action on par with denial of the Holocaust.
Most historians contend the killings of the Armenians constituted the first genocide of the 20th century. But the issue is dicey for any government that wants a strong alliance with Turkey, a rising power. In Washington, President Barack Obama has stopped short of calling the killings genocide.
An estimated 500,000 Armenians live in France, and many have pressed to raise the legal statute regarding the massacres to the same level as the Holocaust by punishing the denial of genocide.

Football emblems are a symbol of pride, aggression, glory, celebration, victory, history tradition and loyalty. It is a mark that brings fans from all over the world together and becomes a mark of festivity.
But what do these symbols stand for?
Let?s have a look at some of the famous club football logo designs:
1. Manchester United:
This famous emblem consists of an image of a red devil with an image of a ship over it and the entire image is encased in a crest like image that contains the team?s name and small images of two footballs. The entire image is crafted in red and yellow colors which makes it eye catching and bright. This red devil image has been derived from the official crest of the Manchester city while the ship is a reference to the introduction of the Manchester shipping canal which is an industrial asset for the city.
Overall, this monogram is an exact depiction of tradition, history and aggression which does not fail to scare its opponents.
2. Liverpool:
This emblem consists of a mythical bird called the Liver bird that can created in 1892 when the crest for the city was being developed which made it an obvious choice for the city?s football team as well. The bird is a cross between an eagle and a cormorant. Besides the bird, their club crest contains an intricate design on top of the emblem with the slogan ?You?ll never walk alone? and is combined with two torches on both sides of the brand mark. Overall, the image looks imaginative, historical and delicate.
3. Chelsea:
This famous team has altered their monogram many times and each design never fails to impress its viewers. The current design has been inspired by a civic coat of arms of the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea that contains an image of a lion with a stick. The prominent colors in the emblem are blue and white which are also the team?s colors.
4. FC Barcelona:
Although their emblem has faced minor changes over the years, the basic concept seems to remain the same. The design consists of a complex yet delicate design that contain the Catalan flag on one side, the St. Jordi?s cross on the other side and a stripped design of the team?s football colors with an image of a football underneath it. One factor that brings all these images together and adds a sophisticated touch is that the entire image is encased in a golden colored shield.
One common factor that has been observed in all these famous football logos is their string link to history and tradition. Almost all of the emblems represent a popular fact of the region it has been derived from.
So there you have some of the famous designs that have brought different nations in one field and hosted battles that have made them a part of history.

Argentina is technically termed Argentine Republic. It is the second biggest in South America and also 8th biggest on the planet. Capital city of Argentina is Buenos Aires and also the official dialect is Spanish. It?s actually classified as an upper middle revenue economic climate however the financial development of Argentina was sluggish throughout the end of previous 100 years.
Nonetheless, economical rehabilitation was observed with all the growth rate hovering around 8% between 2003 and the year 2007.This pattern was corrected around the year 2008 and 2009, when the rate of growth was 6.76% and 2.5%, correspondingly. The Argentina real estate rates furthermore dipped within 2008, exhibiting the international economic crisis. In spite of this, the Argentina housing prices had restored a minimum of 50% of the lost ground during 2009. During the boom period, prices of real-estate in Argentina, specifically within the beloved neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, had matched the costs of global real estate for sale costs in metropolitan areas such as New York City, London, uk, or even Paris. Nevertheless, the current prices of Argentina property auction or sale listings in Buenos Aires are 7 to ten x lower than the costs existing in these towns. If the international real estate investors move-out of the main city to other cities and also rural locations, the cost variations are a lot more apparent.
For instance, the apartment prices in the most costly area of Palermo in the capital, Buenos Aires range between $1,700 and $3,000 for every square meter. In some other rich area, Recoleta, the costs of condominiums are generally between $2,500 and $5,000 for every square meter. As soon as the Argentina real estate for sale accessible for such somewhat lower prices, the Argentina leases had likewise dropped substantially. The leasing yields in major locations of the capital dropped from 9.4% in the year 2008 to 7.7% in 2009. Rental fees for houses were marginally higher within the number of 6.7% to 9%, while the actual rental fees of apartments ranged in between 6.4% and 7.4%.
These estimations reveal that the upheaval in the real estate of Argentina soon after the economic downturn within the United States Of America during 2008 carried on very well in 2009. However, the prices of Argentina real estate property ended up stabilizing in the year of 2010 and the development is anticipated to keep on. The main benefit of Argentina real-estate available on the market and also Argentina leases is the cash settlement of house exchanges following the economic problem suffered with that country in 2002. Very few properties are mortgaged.
This approach had insulated the Argentina residence costs to a large degree from serious shocks.
The particular hosting of 2014 Football World Cup by Brazil, as well as the 2016 Olympics in Brazil are anticipated to provide a strong push to tourist arrivals in neighboring Argentina also. Therefore, this is the right time for global real-estate buyers to park their additional cash in Argentina real estate property listings and obtain a substantial income dividends within the next 5-10 years.
Taylor White is an international real estate investor and leading the charge at International Real Estate Listings the worldwide leader in Argentina real estate and Argentina real estate listings. Argentina real estate owners, agents, and developers are encouraged to create an account, upload an unlimited number of listings, write as much creative property details, include a You Tube property video, and it will be activated as a basic listing for 6 months, free.

Reporting from New Orleans?
Spill 4.9 million barrels of oil into the ocean, and this is what you get: the lollapalooza, labyrinthine, mega-mother of all lawsuits. It encompasses 72 million pages of documents, 20,000 exhibits and 303 depositions ? the collective effort of hundreds of lawyers and legal workers.
It involves the Justice Department and about 120,000 plaintiffs: angry fishermen, restaurateurs, state governments and condo owners who say their beach-side property is not worth what it once was. The trial phase, set to begin Feb. 27 in a New Orleans federal courtroom, could go on for nine months.
That is, unless it is averted by the mega-mother of all legal settlements.
It goes by the formal title "In Re: Oil Spill by the Oil Rig Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010." And much like the disaster itself, the litigation is startling in its impact and scope, involving billions of dollars of potential fines and damages, arcane matters of maritime law and Space Age details of deep-sea engineering.
There are a host of corporate defendants ? chief among them oil giant BP, which was in charge of the drilling project, and Swiss company Transocean Ltd., the owner of the doomed rig ? which have been fighting in court over who should shoulder how much of the blame for the disaster that killed 11 rig workers and caused the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history.
Charles F. Herd Jr., a veteran Houston maritime attorney, calls it an "unheralded" event in the history of American jurisprudence because of its size and complexity.
The biggest question in the days leading up to the trial is whether the Justice Department, which is seeking civil penalties under the Clean Water Act, will reach a settlement with BP or other companies involved in the spill.
The Clean Water Act penalties for BP alone could be as high as $17 billion if it is found to have exhibited "gross negligence" ? a failure to take reasonable steps to avert the disaster ? during the nonjury trial before U.S. District Court Judge Carl Barbier. Such a decision could increase the fine from $1,100 per barrel to a maximum of $4,300 per barrel, roughly a $13-billion difference. (That figure is based on the 4.1 million barrels of oil left in the gulf after BP cleaned up an estimated 800,000 barrels.)
That potential fine dwarfs the record $70 million in Clean Water Act civil penalties levied last week against MOEX Offshore 2007, a minority investor in the well, which came as part of an overall $90-million settlement with the Justice Department.
"There's enormous pressure on BP to settle," said David Uhlmann, director of the environmental law program at the University of Michigan. "No matter how confident BP is about the gross negligence question, that's just an extraordinary amount of risk for any trial."
BP Chief Executive Robert Dudley said this month that the company was preparing for the court date, but ready to settle "if we can do so on fair and reasonable terms."
Experts will also be watching whether the Justice Department will include a non-prosecution agreement with the companies as part of any potential civil settlement, closing a door on future criminal charges.
A Justice spokesman declined to comment Wednesday.
The lawsuits loom despite BP's agreement to set up a $20-billion fund to compensate spill victims. That fund has paid $6.5 billion to thousands of claimants, most of whom signed a waiver agreeing not to file suit. Two families of the 11 rig workers killed in a fiery explosion are still negotiating wrongful-death cases against BP; the others have settled.
In addition, a separate class-action suit is unfolding in Houston on behalf of thousands of investors accusing BP of securities fraud. That suit alleges that BP made false or misleading statements about its safety programs in the gulf and about its ability to respond to a big spill. A trial date in that case has not been set, according to Richard Mithoff, a co-lead attorney for the plaintiffs.
The disaster that slimed the coastline of four states and closed gulf fisheries for months also triggered hundreds of other individual and class-action cases, which were filed in courthouses around the country.
In August 2010, a federal legal panel lumped those cases together into one suit so that Barbier could address the common questions at the heart of the matter.
A key issue, if the case goes to trial, is the degree to which fault should be allocated among the corporate defendants, which also include Houston-based Halliburton, which performed the cement job on the well, and Cameron International Corp., designer of the failed blowout preventer.
Once the degree of fault is established, the court determines the amount the companies must pay in compensatory damages ? that is, the cost of replacing what has been lost. The court will also establish whether the defendants must pay punitive damages, meant to punish and deter bad conduct.
The issue of gross negligence is also significant here because only companies whose actions are deemed grossly negligent must pay punitive damages.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs will argue that BP, the main company in their cross hairs, exhibited gross negligence by not only mismanaging the disaster, but also encouraging a culture that valued profit more than safety ? a claim that BP has denied.
Rig owner Transocean is hoping to take a pass on much of this, citing an 1851 federal statute that limits a ship owner's legal exposure when a vessel goes down. Transocean argues that its exposure should be about $27 million, the current value of the sunken rig.
Despite all the legal complexity, the matter couldn't be simpler for plaintiffs like Acy Cooper Jr.
Cooper said the spill seriously affected his ability to fish in 2010. More recently, he was forced to close down his family's Venice, La., seafood restaurant. "If they didn't do things right," Cooper said of the defendants, "they need to be held accountable."

Things are tough in the world of public television.
State budgets for local stations are being slashed or eliminated, as in Rhode Island where Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee has proposed to fund Channel 36 through Dec. 31 and then eliminate state funding.
Five states have eliminated funding and others have cut contributions.
In Washington the federal contribution, through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, is under constant attack from Republicans who believe that PBS is biased and that it shouldn't receive any public money whatsoever.
Mitt Romney says no to federal money.
But a larger problem for PBS and its stations is one of mission.
When the service was created in 1970, the mission was apparent: Create quality programming that couldn't be found elsewhere. As PBS was cobbled together from a collection of educational stations, children's programming was always an important element and remains so; also books, cooking, political talk, business, interviews, documentaries, music and drama.
Over time, the television landscape has changed out of recognition.
Competing broadcasters, to say nothing of the Internet, have eroded the once solid franchises that were the backbone of PBS broadcasting.
Books have been largely ceded to C-SPAN and the ever-creative Brian Lamb. Cooking, far from the glory days when the only place you could find out how to make a roux was from Julia Child, is now the theme of two cable cooking channels that are creating new stars.
Political talk, which in its modern incarnation was born on PBS with "The McLaughlin Group" and "Firing Line," is now a staple of commercial television. Likewise, cable has pushed ahead of PBS in developing business (Remember "Wall Street Week"?), interview, history and arts channels. Other PBS innovations like "Motor Week" and "This Old House" are also under attack on cable.
Running down the list of what PBS does that no one else is doing brings one to the last franchise that PBS still dominates, and that might be called the "British bonanza." PBS has been mining effectively the output of both the BBC and the commercial British television channels with great effect since the days of "Upstairs Downstairs" (commercial in Britain).
Today, in its struggle for audience, another British import, "Downton Abbey," is the brightest star in PBS's dimming firmament.
If PBS is to again command the community loyalty it once enjoyed, if it is to answer its political foes, if it is to be a decisive force in television and perhaps on the Web, it needs to stop whining about money ? now part of its demeanor ? and to ask itself, "Is it new?" Is it bringing in and developing young talent? Is it doing something, anything, that will be imitated around the world? Is it creating programs that will bring in dollars in syndication and entice sponsors to be associated with the excitement?
In the 1960s the BBC, which had become a national treasure during World War II, had lost its way. Commercial television was eroding its audience and pirate broadcasters were attacking its radio franchise. The BBC got off the couch and joined the creative fray, especially the satirical revolution. Bam! It was back.
Of course, the BBC with its private tax, called a licensing fee, had a lot of money to spend. But it wasn't money that saved the BBC from ignoble decline ? it was unleashing creative forces in post-Empire Britain.
Particularly, the BBC encouraged young writers and producers. It worked.
PBS should think of itself as an incubator, not as a roost for the old, the tired and the timid. Had PBS, or rather one of its bigger stations, been offered "The Daily Show" or its stable mate "The Colbert Report," it's hard to imagine that they would've been welcomed.
Yes, PBS, those retread English comedies and Lawrence Welk won't cut it going forward. ?For the Hearst-New York Times syndicate

The 2012 professional bodybuilding season began with a tremendous showing at the second annual IFBB FLEX Pro competition. While the end result may have been lacking in any gratuitous form of controversy, there was a highly-delectable amount of surprise involved for all involved.
Frenchman Lionel Beyeke, the former 2008 Mr. Universe champion, claiming his first professional bodybuilding victory, delivered a package of muscular density, shape and symmetry that few of his rivals could have hoped to compete with. Though he left the early pre-judging with many penciling his name in the third-place slot, he returned in the finals looking far better than his prior showing. Beyeke looked much harder and water-depleted, leading him toward the eventual victory over the rest of the class.
Beyeke?s conditioning, though slightly lacking from what he may have hoped for, was not too much of a surprise to many, as pre-contest conditioning is somewhat of a difficult art form in itself. The true story was the lack of adequate conditioning from nearly all of his closest competitors, including second-place finisher Ben Pulaski. Though he delivered a vastly-improved physique from his previous showings, Pulaski continues to miss out on a higher placing, as his size and conditioning lack a crucial ingredient: a dominant body part. His upper body appeared to be improved upon, but still lacked in equivalence to his lower body progress.
Rounding out the top three was early favorite Fouad Abiad. Remaining in the position he took in last year?s inaugural competition, Abiad was the leader after pre-judging, but his conditioning, much like the rest of the field, did him no favors. Fortunately, he also showed no glaring weaknesses, as his overall package was solid, save for the issues with the aforementioned affliction.
In other Flex Pro action, six-time Fitness Olympia champion Adela Garcia out-shined the rest of the women?s class at the Fitness Championships, ahead of Oksana Grishina and Myriam Capes. Many of the female competitors will again do battle in less than two weeks at the Fitness International.
Overall, the second annual competition delivered what it had promised. The 2012 season has begun with a very outstanding performance and, with continued improvements from competitors and promoters alike, looks to continue the surge in the sport?s popularity that has blossomed over the past several years.

Any relationship I have that becomes stagnant is a relationship that will end. Because a relationship that can?t change is not really a relationship anymore; it?s a snapshot of a moment in time ? that has passed.
I now know that the guiding principles I?ve been moving toward for some years now have a name: process philosophy, which asserts that Life is Change. In her book, She Who Changes: Re-imagining the Divine in the World, Carol Christ writes:
For process philosophy, the whole universe is alive and changing, continually co-creating new possibilities of life. ? The world is a web of changing individuals interacting with, affecting, and changing each other. The body is the locus of changing life. Not to be embodied, not to change, is not to be alive. (p. 45)
As I change and evolve, I need my relationships to also change and evolve, not necessarily in the same directions, but in compatible directions. Even happy and satisfied stability is not a place I want to stay very long. Oddly enough, equilibrium is not just kind of boring, but it?s actually enervating for me. Too much stability for too long, I get really depressed. Situations of emotional upheaval are when I feel most alive, and ready to meet whatever challenges I?ll be facing.
I?m most creative, and thereby most happy, when I don?t know what?s going to happen next. Having some idea of what?s possible is fine, but as soon as we approach something like 75% certainty of a certain outcome or defined set of outcomes, my interest in even bothering to move forward evaporates. If nothing is at risk, if there is nowhere for serendipity to enter the process, then what?s the point in doing it?
So relationships that have become stagnant, such that my certainty of various defined outcomes is 90-100% and I am rarely, if ever, surprised in a good way, are relationships that are moribund. I?ve been in this situation often enough that when I recognize all these symptoms are occurring, we are at a point of no return. That is, trying to change things drastically, hoping that will resuscitate the relationship and make it possible to go on, will not work. So at this point, all I can do is walk away. That doesn?t mean it?s easy to walk away, or that I won?t be looking over my shoulder for a while. It doesn?t mean I won?t miss the person or the relationship, because I will. But it?s time to move on.
If you knew me ten years ago, I?m not that person anymore. If you knew me when I first moved to Maryland (early summer 2008), I?m not that person anymore. I?m not the person I was a year ago, or six months ago. A lot of those changes are incremental and slow evolutions, but some have been quantum leaps.
Therefore, at any given time, I have very few current relationships that have lasted many years. I used to feel that loss as an absence that needed filling. I sought out old friends and tried to connect with them in the present. (That?s what drew me to Facebook.) But none of those attempts succeeded, and I no longer feel that my life needs someone who?s in it mostly because they remember what I was like when I was 15. That was 2/3 of my life ago, and I don?t see why it?s relevant anymore.
But I?ve always found it tricky to say goodbye to a place that no longer works for me if there are people still there that I would like to stay friends with. Because sometimes it turns out that the relationship really needs the place to work. For example, I have left jobs where I had several friends that I wanted to stay in touch with. But once our circumstances had drastically diverged, I found we had little in common anymore of the things that matter to me in a friendship. I wanted Facebook to deepen relationships I already had, or help me connect in a new way with people I didn?t know well. Instead, for the most part, my relationships became shallower. Or I realized that we no longer had things in common necessary for my idea of friendship.
I joined Facebook so I could feel closer to people that I already liked. And now I?m leaving it, a year and a half later, with a lot fewer friends than I had.
Which is kind of ironic because in general I like burning bridges behind me. I have often found it satisfying (if not always pleasant) to stand up for my current self by ending a relationship on my terms if it cannot be renegotiated. I like acknowledging that I need something different, and I?ve decided that I can only find that somewhere else. But also that I?m leaving open the possibility of re-engaging with this person in the future ? as long as we start from scratch.
Ereshkigal is my patron, and she picked well when she found me. I have walked away from the person who was the bedrock of my childhood; my parents; my siblings; most of my relatives; all sorts of relationships that I eventually realized were toxic; and friendships that just petered out. I have walked away from college majors; schools; jobs; careers; professional associations; organizations, and volunteering opportunities.
For at least the last year or so, I?ve been trying to figure out how to put my past to rest, and how to metaphorically give birth to myself, so I could just be who I am now. I thought that effort was entirely separate from the whole Facebook thing, but now I see they were entwined. My Facebook experience was messy and painful and disillusioning, but it made possible something I hadn?t been able to manage on my own: the end of attachments I had outgrown but was unwilling to let go of.
I didn?t say goodbye to anybody on Facebook before I deleted my account because, I now realize, in most cases that would?ve been redundant. If our only connection was through Facebook, then we weren?t really connected. But if we did have a relationship outside of Facebook, then we still have that.
I don?t know who I am anymore, because certainty has less and less place in my life. I-am-becoming is sufficient; I am a work in progress. I am co-creating my self, in relation to the world, moment by moment. I can still surprise myself and the world, and I look forward to doing so.
