Division of Insurance Fraud revealed that Timmons collected medical benefits through her employer?s workers? compensation policy after an accident at work. Although she claimed that she could not work, she continued to collect full pay from her employer while also collecting these benefits. Timmons denied under oath that she was working and as a result of Timmons? false statements, Sentry Insurance paid Timmons more than $60,000 in fraudulent workers? compensation benefits.

In a separate but similar case, Kendrick claimed he experienced a work-related back injury. Further investigation revealed previous medical records showing Kendrick had claimed back injuries in 1983 and 1985 and sought disability benefits on both occasions. As a result of Kendrick?s false statements, Alternative Service Concepts, LLC, paid over $71,000 in fraudulent workers? compensation benefits.

Timmons and Kendrick were booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and Manatee County jail respectively. If convicted, they each face up to 15 years in prison.

The charges against Timmons will be prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Brian Shrader, a dedicated fraud prosecutor in Hillsborough County. The State Attorney?s Office in Manatee County will prosecute the charges against Kendrick.

The Department of Financial Services to date has awarded almost $275,000 to more than 40 citizens as part of its Anti-Fraud Reward Program. The program rewards individuals up to $25,000 for information that directly leads to an arrest and conviction in an insurance fraud scheme. When previews began to play for "Wrath of the Titans," the follow-up to 2010's "Clash of the Titans," the element of the trailer that got the biggest reaction wasn't the mythological beasts or the battling gods, but the longer locks on star Sam Worthington's head.

Gone was Perseus' anachronistic buzz cut from the original — a nitpicking problem for some who saw "Clash" — and in its stead was Worthington's naturally curly hair.

"I got more criticism about my hair than Jennifer Aniston did when she started 'Friends,' " Worthington quipped to MTV News.

With so much of the attention leading into the film's premiere focused squarely on Worthington's head, the actor told MTV News he isn't too worried about those people's opinions. "My brain goes, 'If that's the only thing you're going to be focusing on, maybe you should get out more,' " Worthington said.

Liam Neeson, Worthington's co-star, offered some kind words about the change in hairdo.

"His hair was good," Neeson said.

"The hair was good," Worthington agreed.

Within the fictional realm of "Wrath of the Titans," the change in hairstyle makes sense for its own reasons. "The story jumps 10 years," Neeson said. The sequel picks up a decade after the end of "Clash of the Titans." When hurt, self-healing plastics turn red

Scientists are creeping closer to the creation of self-healing plastics full of sci-fi features that would be ideal for everything from airplanes that fix themselves in flight to cars whose parking-lot scratches disappear by the end of the day.

In one of the latest developments, researchers are reporting a material that changes color when compromised and then self-heals in response to light or other stimuli.

While many of the details are industry-guarded secrets, each step forward brings companies closer to creating a new generation of products that retain their integrity indefinitely.

NEWS: Plastic Heal Thyself: Scientists Invent Smart Polymers

?There are millions and millions of applications, ranging from transportation to sensing to space to energy to cosmetics to health to medicine to many things,? said Marek Urban, a polymer scientist at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, who presented some of his latest work today at a the American Chemical Society meeting in San Diego. ?Whatever you desire.?

One of the first major breakthroughs in self-healing materials came in 2001, when researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign figured out how to embed microcapsules into polymers. These long chains of repeated molecular units are linked with chemical bonds. When the material was damaged, the microcapsules would break open, releasing a liquid healing agent that would repair broken bonds.

Scientists have made a number of technical advances since then, including refinements in how quickly and efficiently chemical bonds can be disassembled and reassembled within materials.

Although the new generation of coatings is often called ?self-healing,? most of these materials don?t actually heal themselves, said Christoph Weder, a polymer scientist at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. Instead, something is required to stimulate healing. Early generation versions required heat to essentially melt molecules and allow them to flow back together.

In 2009, Urban?s team developed a polyurethane polymer that healed with exposure to ultraviolet light. And last year, in a paper that appeared in the journal Nature, Weder and colleagues reported the use of focused UV light to spark the healing process in a different kind of rubbery plastic that is made of shorter molecules and linked with metal ions.

Urban?s team has now developed self-heating latex coatings that turn red when damaged, reminiscent of the blood on a human scratch. Like paint, Urban said, the material can be applied to just about any kind of surface. Tiny sensing molecules are spaced at regular intervals throughout the polymer so that when bonds break as a result of damage to the surface, a color change occurs.

Then, when exposed to specific wavelengths light or to specific temperature or pH conditions, the molecule closes back up again. Urban?s new material turns red when damaged, but future versions will likely use other colors.

?This is the first example of a material that self heals and also changes color,? he told Discovery News. ?Nobody ever did this before.?

"Mother Nature has endowed all kinds of biological systems with the ability to repair themselves," including skin, DNA and tree bark, Urban added in a press release. "Our new plastic tries to mimic nature, issuing a red signal when damaged and then renewing itself when exposed to visible light, temperature or pH changes."

Color changes could be useful signals that would alert engineers or consumers that damage has occurred to a product, Weder said. The visible scratch would then guide the application of light to focus on the area that needs it.

?This is something that has been on my drawing board for a long time,? Weder said. ?It shows you where the defect is and the system can then be healed.?

Earlier this year in Europe, Nissan released prototypes of an iPhone case with self-healing technology. But there is still a ways to go before the technology becomes widespread.

It is relatively easy, for example, to make soft materials that self-heal, Urban said, because gel-like substances flow easily. But it is much more difficult to create hard and durable self-healing materials that can withstand heat and stress, which would be far more useful in the bolts or coatings of objects like airplanes and space shuttles.

Some day, Urban said, scientists may be able to make objects out of materials that replicate and self-heal, essentially growing like trees.

If you thought a robot fighting championship just sounds like the plot for a Hugh Jackman vehicle, you'd be partly right. We'll tell you who does have the real steel though, the plucky fellas you see above. They're competing for this year's ROBO-ONE championship, an annual competition where humanoid robots slug it out to the death (or power failure at least) held this weekend in Kawasaki, Japan. This is no toy fair either, with contestants bagging a $12,000 pot if their android-avatar wins the crown. This year, that title goes to GAROO, winning for the second time in a row by defeating Gargoyle Mini for the spoils. Rumors of LED gauging were unfounded, as you'll see in the video after the round... we mean break.

Virgin Mobile USA's text and data services are out across the USA

As customers of Sprint's contract-averse MVNO have probably noticed, Virgin Mobile has been having a national outage of its text and data services for at least several hours now. While we're hearing from some customers it's been out all day, acknowledgement of the disruption only just became Facebook official. There's no word yet when it will be resolved however, as we're only getting the "engineers are working to resolve it" boilerplate for now. Until then we'd suggest enjoying the few activities that are still possible without wireless internet access, if those are even still a thing.

Should hall passes exist in relationships? | OliveCoco Magazine

A few months ago I had the opportunity to watch the movie ?Hall Pass?.? This movie is a must see. It?s extremely funny but it also allows for some good conversation within your relationship. So, take a second and ask yourself, ?Should a hall pass exist in my relationship??

Lets get into the reasons a hall pass could possibly exist. Hall passes are thought of often times when a relationship is encountering some sort of adversity or when there are thoughts of taking the relationship to the ultimate level (Marriage). Now notice I didn?t reference a hall pass within a marriage. This is because my beliefs on marriage are strict. When I say strict I mean no intimate relationship outside of the marriage whatsoever but that?s neither here nor there. Another reason why a hall pass may be considered is to spice up the relationship.

Hall passes are extremely dangerous in a relationship and almost 100% of the time the woman has to suggest it even though it is always at the back of the guy?s head.? MEN, trust and believe if you suggest it; you are in for a world of hurt.

Now let?s get to the ?Nitty-Gritty?! As I?ve stated, hall passes are considered when a relationship encounters some sort of adversity. Adversity can consist of many things such as: smothering, dwindling excitement, and just thoughts of life outside of the relationship.

Smothering ends lots of relationships because it stunts personal growth, which in turn complicates the growth of the couple. When this occurs, the two parties begin to do radical things that hurt the relationship even more until they come across the idea of a hall pass.? When one of the parties feels smothered and a hall pass comes into the equation: they approach it as a way of providing a sense of fresh air. Is this okay? While this helps some couples; others aren?t so lucky. Let?s just say fresh air doesn?t remain fresh for long, in fact it gets polluted extremely fast. Maturity is a must in this case. So, is it impossible? No, but it can damage the dynamic of some relationship.

When the excitement has reached its? peak in a relationship; couples run to Hall Passes as a form of excitement. Honestly, if you have sex with another person for a night and your partner knows; do you truly think the excitement will return? Everything will feel great while you?re with the outside party but when you return home the relationship remains stale. What I am saying is: Make a valiant attempt to stimulate your relationship before you consider a hall pass. You just may fine out that the issue resides a little deeper than just excitement.

When a hall pass is considered due to a reason such as: thoughts of life outside the relationship; then you just have to ask yourself is a relationship truly what you want. SIMPLE AS PUT!

Here?s where I am in understanding of the Hall Pass concept. A lot of couples try this Hall Pass thing out when the next step in the relationship is marriage. The Hall Pass is considered at this point because marriage is a lifetime deal and both parties would like to be sure that nothing else is out there. This is risky but discussed in depth once it is considered. Often times one or maybe both parties haven?t experienced life to the fullest and feel as if ?they haven?t gone through something? it could hurt the foundation of their relationship. The reason a hall pass is considered before marriage in most cases is because both parties want to make sure the opposite party has gotten everything out of their system before marriage: The greatest form of commitment in a relationship. I am a guy, so there is some sort of curiosity there. I think every male has said to himself ?Hmmmm I wonder if my woman would allow me to see what else is out there before I popped the question?.

Taking a more logical look at this I do believe some couples need this to grow.? There are some cases where the man or woman have only been with one or two women/men; got married right away and later on down the line they?ve gotten that itch. So, I truly understand. When the hall pass is abused just because one of you wants to have sex one last time before you get married; I stand firm when saying I don?t agree.

So, this question stands: Would you consider a Hall Pass in your relationship?

Bay Area sees snow, gets dose of cold weather

Bay Area residents were getting a dose of cold and unsettled weather Sunday after a storm system that brought rain and heavy snow in the mountains moved out of the region.

Skies were mostly clear in the Bay Area Sunday afternoon, but forecasters said there was still a chance of showers during the day.

Along the beaches, a high surf advisory is in effect, with a 15- to 17-foot swell expected. The National Weather Service says there's a chance of occasional 20-foot breakers through Sunday.

In the Sierra, a winter advisory remains in place until Sunday evening.

Forecasters say snow showers throughout the day will drop another two to four inches on the more than three feet of snow that fell over the weekend.
