It was almost one of the biggest films of the holiday season, but now “The Monuments Men” won’t hit theaters until next year.
According to Sony Pictures, the George Clooney World War II drama, originally slated for a December 18th release has been pushed in order to allow time more visual effects.
And while that may be the whole story, it seems that taking “The Monuments Men” out of the Oscar race so last-minute could mean that the studio isn’t confident it will fare well.
Also starring Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray and John Goodman, the flick is about a platoon whose mission is to “rescue artwork from the Nazis before they could destroy it.”
